The district of Tiruvallur is one of the extremely important districts of the state of Tamil Nadu. The district of Tiruvallur has its main administrative centre in the city of Tiruvallur itself.  The district is one of those districts of the state which has a very well defined urban and rural area. The district is well known among the local peoples of the state as the home of the Lord Balaji which also in a way leads to the name of the district as ‘Tiruvallur’ which means the ‘Home of the highness’. The district of Tiruvallur is bordered by the districts of Vellore, Kanchipuram, Chennai and the state of Andhra Pradesh. The district also has a coastline with the Bay of Bengal. The district of Tiruvallur covers a land area of approximately around 3422 sq km with a population that amounts up to approximately around 37.2 lacs individuals. The district is one of the fastest developing districts of the state of Tamil Nadu.
