Uttarakhand

The state of Uttarakhnad is one of the youngest states of the Indian Republic. The state was formed in the 2000 along with Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The state of Uttarakhand was previously known as Uttaranchal. The state is located along the outer Himalayas and forms a beautiful tourist place. The state covers a land area of approximately 53,484 sq km with a population of approximately 10,116,752 individuals. The state has the city of Dehradun as its capital. The state of Uttarakhand has many important pilgrimage centers for Hindus. The river Ganga has its source in the state of Uttarakhand.
