The district of Thanjavur is one of the 32 districts that make up the total state of Tamil Nadu. The district is located along the eastern part of the state of Tamil Nadu. The district is also bordered by the districts of Nagapattinam District, Tiruvarur District, Pudukottai, Perambalur and Tirichirapalli district. The district has a lot of places that attract attention of the tourists from all over the state as well as India and the whole world. The district also has quite a few interesting fauna in the district which make the area quite special. The district of Thanjavur covers a land area of approximately around 3477 sq km with a population of about 24 lacs individuals. The district of Thanjavur has a population density of approximately 691 people per sq km. The district has agriculture as the main occupation of the people of the district. The district is known as the ‘Rice Bowl’ of the state of Tamil Nadu.
