Ariyalur

The district of Ariyalur is one of the most important administrative districts of the state of Tamil Nadu. The district came into being in the year 2001 when land was carved out of the district of Perambalur and then again merged in the year 2002 with the district of Perambalur only to be divided again in the year 2007. The districts that border the district of Ariyalur are Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Tiruchirapalli, Nagapattinam and Perambalur. The district has huge amouts of Limestone deposits which favours the cement industries that are built in the district.The district of Ariyalur covers a land area of approximately around 1949 sq km with a population of 7.5 lacs individuals. The density of population for the district of Ariyalur is approximately around 390 people per sq km. The district has a male to female ration of around 1016 females per 1000 males. There are many places of tourist attractions in the district of Ariyalur.
