The district of Nasik is bordered by the districts of Dhule, Jalgaon, Ahmadnagar, Aurangabad, Valsad, Navsari and Dangs, The district has the Western Ghats mountain range running through the heart of the district. The district has its main administrative centre in the city of Nasik itself. The district of Nasik is basically one of those hilly retreats that is used by the people for some sort of small vacation. The land is basically made up of hardened Lava which makes it quite impossible to grow extensive crops on the land. The district of Nasik covers a land area of approximately 15530 sq km with a population of about 61 lacs individuals. The district has a population density of 393 people per sq km. The district is very famous all over India for the quality and quantity of Onion and Grapes that it produces. The district has the language of Marathi as its main official language.
