Chandrapur

The district of Chandar is an important part of the Nagpur division of the state of Maharashtra. The district is located in the southern part of the district right along the borders of the state of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Thje district was previously known as Chanda District which was later changed into Chandarpur district. The district was previously the largest district of India till the district of Gadchiroli was not carved out of it. The district of Chandarpur has the city of Chandarpur as the main administrative city for the district.The district of Chandarpur covers a land area of 11428 sq km with a population of approximately around 21.9 lacs individuals. The district has a population density of 192 people per sq km. The district is a part of the list of 250 most backward districts of India. The district depends on the funds provided by the Backward Regions Grant Fund Program.
