Rayagada

The district of Rayagada is one of the most important districts of the state of Orissa because of the mineral deposits that the district has. The district of Rayagada was under the Kingdom of Kalinga which was later annexed by Asoka in the 3rd century B.C. The district is also famous for the spices that it produces. The district has a lot of small hills that are more of as shoot off ranges from the Eastern Ghats which give the district quite a good scenic beauty. There are many small scale and cottage industries that are of great importance to the district. The district of Rayagada covers a land area of approximately around 7584 sq km with a population of 9.6 lacs individuals. The population density of the district is approximately around 136 people per sq km. The majority of the population of the district consists of Tribal people.
