Jajapur

The district of Jajpur is one of the most important districts of the state of Orissa because of the historical and religious importance the district has. The district has a very strong link to the change in the course of the history of Buddhism and India as well because the district of Jajpur was the capital city of the empire of Kalinga. The district is embellished with a lot inscriptions and stupas pertaining to the leaching of Lord Buddha. Apart from the historical significance of the district, the district also has a lot of tourism interest owing to the inscriptions and stupas.
The district of Jajpur covers a land area of approximately 2888 sq km with a population of about 18.2 lacs individuals. The density of population of the state is approximately around 630 people per sq km. The district also has a lot of steel plants to support its economy.
