Malkangiri

The district of Malkangiri is one of the extremely important districts of the state of Orissa. The district of Malkangiri has the main centre for the administrative works in the city of Malkangiri itself. The district is one of the most regions of the state that has the highest concentration of Naxalites and at the same time huge number of refugees from the Dandakaranya project in the year 1965 and even some of the LTTE soldiers as well. The facility that the district of Malkangiri provides to these refugees is one of the prime reasons that make the district so very much indispensible for the state as well as India. The district of Malkangiri has a population of about 23 thousand individuals according to the census of the year 2001.  The literacy rate of the region is extremely low with more that 40% of the population coming under the list of illiterates.
