Raichur

The district of Raichur is also an important administrative district of the state of Karnataka. The district of Raichur is located in the north – eastern part of the state of Karnataka. The district of Raichur is bordered by the districts of Yadgir, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Bellary and Koppal. The state of Andhra Pradesh also shares the boundary with the district. The two main rivers that flow through the heart of the district are River Krishna and River Tungabhadra. The history of the region can be effectively traced back to the times of Ashoka with the help of the Ashokan pillars that the district has. The district of Raichur has an area of 8441 sq km under its administration with a population of about 19.2 lacs individuals. The density of population of the region is around about 228 people per sq km. The economy of the district is primarily dependent on the Hatti Gold Mines and the tourism industry that has flourished over the years in the region.
