The district of Kodagu is also known by the Anglo – Indian name of Coorg. The district is an extremely administrative district of the state of Karnataka. The district of Kodagu is bordered by the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Hassan and Mysore. The district is also bordered by two districts of the state of Kerala. The district is well known all over the world for the quality coffee that it produces along with the brave warriors that it has. The district is situated along the foothills of the Eastern Ghats. The district has an area of around 4102 sq km under its effective administration. The district occupies a population of approximately 5.5 lacs individuals per sq km with a population density of 135 people per sq km. The district has its majority of the population involved in the work of agriculture. The district and the surrounding area have a complete distinct culture and beliefs. The main agricultural products of the district are Rice and Coffee.
