Bagalkot

The district of Bagalkot is located in the northern part of the state of Karnataka. The district of Bagalkot is bordered by the districts of Belgaum, Gadag, Koppal, Bijapur and Raichur. The district has its main centre of administration in the town of Bagalkote. In the past, the town of Bagalkote was the capital city of the Chalukyan Empire. The district of Bagalkot was formed in the year of 1997. The district has many remains that links it to the Chalukyan empire and UNESCO has already rendered the sites as the world heritage sites that needs special care. 
The district of Bagalkot covers a land area of 6565 sq km with a population that is approximately about 18.9 lacs. The district has a density of population around 288 people per sq km. The district of Bagalkot is famous for the tourist destinations that it has in its bank like the Badami Cave Temples, Aihole, Pattadakal, etc. The main occupation of the people of Bagalkot is agriculture. The district is also furnished with many small scale as well as large scale industries.
