Mandya

The district of Mandya is also an important administrative district for the state of Karnataka. The district is bordered by the districts of Mysore, Hassan, Tumkur and Ramanagara. The district came into being in the year 1939. The main administrative centre for the district of Mandya is the city of Mandya itself. The districts and the regions surrounding the district were under the extensive rule of the Mysore kingdom. The dynasties that followed were Ganga dynasty, The Cholas, The Hoysalas and the Vijayanagara Kingdom. The district has seen many brave battles being fought and won. The district is primarily dependent on agriculture as their main source of income. The main food products of the district include Sugarcane, Paddy, Maize, Cotton, Pulses, etc. The district covers a land area of around 4955 sq km with a population of 18 lacs approximately. The density of the population of the region is around about 365 people per sq km. The district also has many tourist attractions.
