The district of Bhavnagar is located in the peninsular region of the south – eastern Gujarat. There is not a lot to say about the district itself. The district is predominantly like the classic Indian districts of the past before Independence. The district shares its boundaries with the districts of Rajkot, Botad, Ahmedabad, Amreli. To the south the district has a long and intended coastline along the gulf of Khambat or popularly known as Gulf of Cambay and the lower shore of the Arabian Sea. The approximate size of the district of Bhavnagar is approximately about 8250 sq km. The population that the district holds within itself is approximately about 23 lacs individuals giving it the 133 rank amidst the other districts of India. The district of Bhavnagar has a population density of around 288 individuals that is spread over the 800 villages that it has. The literacy rate of the district is a bit low compared to few other districts of Gujarat at 76.84%.
