The district of Kutch is arguably one of the most famous districts of Gujarat. According to some local language ‘Kutch ’means something that fluctuates between dry state and wet state. The district is also better known as the Rann of Kutch. The origin of the name links back to the language of Sanskrit. The major part of the land area of the district of Kutch is primarily covered with salty marsh lands which convert themselves into wetlands during the rainy season. 
The district of Kutch covers a land area of 45692 sq km with the headquarters of the district in the city of Bhuj. The district of Kutch has an overall population of 20 lacs individuals approximately. The density of population of the district varies around 46 individuals per sq km of the area. The district is one of the fastest growing and highly planned developing industrial sectors of Gujarat as well as India.
