Amreli

The district of Amreli is one of the districts of Gujarat that takes important positions when deciding for the administration of the whole state of Gujarat. The district holds its headquarters in the city of Amreli itself. The district of Amreli was previously known as Amravati which is the Sanskrit version of the present name of Amreli. Talking of the past of Amreli, the region was just a small village. The village started its journey to become a town when the Marathas took over the reign of the area. The district of Amreli spans up to a land area of 6760 sq km. The population that finds refuge in the district amounts up to 15 lacs individuals approximately with a population density that amounts very much around 205 individuals in per sq km. The district of Amreli is not that much developed when it comes to the industries of the region. There are small industries like oil mills, gem cutting industries. The Diamond Cutting industry is well developed in this region.
