The district of Bharuch is more commonly known as Broach district among the local people of the state of Gujarat. The district is situated in the southern part of the peninsular Gujarat. The district has the delta of the River Narmada situated in it.The city is Bharuch is the main centre of Administration for the district of Bharuch. The district of Bharuch has had a long and interesting history of letting people in to the region of India through the excellent natural harbours that it has among the Gulf of Khambat popularly known as the Gulf of Cambay. The district of Bharuch has a population that amounts up to an approximate value of 15.5 lacs individuals with a density of population approximately amounting to 238 individuals per sq km of the total area. The district provides extremely good locations for harbours but the importance has reduced over the period owing to the development of harbours farther south. These harbours are now used for the state of Gujarat itself.
