Sonipat

The district of Sonipat is an extremely important region for Haryana. The district has its main city of administration in the city of Sonipat itself. The district is a part of the National Capital Region along with the districts of Delhi, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad. The district is bordered by the other districts of Panipat, Jind, Rhotak. The3 district is also bordered by the River Yamuna, Delhi and the state of Uttar Pradesh.  The region was previously known as the Sonaprastha which means the Golden City. The district came to existence in the year of 1972 when land was scrapped of the district of Rhotak.The district of Sonipat has a land area of 2123 sq km with a population of 14.8 lacs individuals. The density of population of the region is about 697 people per sq km. The district is a part of an important industrial belt and is extremely well connected both by the roads and the railways.
