Airports in Jammu and Kashmir, India

Following are the airports that are being operated in Jammu and Kashmir:

Jammu Airport (IXJ): It is among the most important airport that is present in this state. Jammu being the major city in this area has this airport to give a smooth flow to the air transport. It is known with other name also, called as Satwari Airport. Airport Authority of India handles the work here. Currently it has a runway of having length 2059 m. All the major national air operators have operations here like Air India, GoAir, IndiGo, JetLite, SpiceJet from Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, Srinagar, Pune, Leh, Patna, Goa, Ranchi.

Kushok Bakula Rimpochhe (IXL): This is located among the highest ground in the world. And is the main source air transportation in this part of India. Because of its sheer importance, high security is kept by the Indian Army. Flights operations are limited to morning only, because of wind problem. Currently the length of runway is around 2000m and is located at a height of 7000 ft. Three major operators have operations till this point Air India, Go Air and Jet Airways. Flights are available from Chandigarh, Delhi and Srinagar till this point.

Srinagar Airport (SXR): This is situated in Srinagar city and is among the major airports in this state. It has flights from all the major cities of India. In the past years, lot of renovation has been done on this. A new terminal was also made. There are seasonal Hajj flights from here. Currently Air India, IndiGo, Jet Airways, Jetkonnect, SpiceJet, GoAir have flights from Amritsar, Bangalore, Delhi, Jammu, Leh, Mumbai, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Indore.
