Airports in Jharkhand, India

Jharkhand State has these operational Airports:

Birsa Munda Airport (IXR): It is the largest airport in this state and has seen a very high surge in the passengers which has led to the expansion plan. Airport Authority of India is planning to make more space and parking ways here. Currently the length of runway is around 2713 m. Due to increasing traffic, various new navigation systems and free of cost night landing facility was carried out. Air India, GoAir, Jet Airways, IndiGo, Jet Konnect from Delhi, Kolkata, Patna, Mumbai, Goa. It is located at a height of 8900 ft.

Sonari Airport (IXW): This is major airport in Jamshedpur and is operated by Tata Steel. But the current runway doesn’t have much operation due to short length runway. A new Airport in the area of Adityapur-Seraikela will be constructed in 600 acres of land. It will be made with longer runway, so that bigger flights can also land here. Currently a plan for the same is being under consideration. Currently it is being used for the business operations.

Dhanbad Airport (DBD): This is still developing airport and will soon have flights having operations from here. This will cover a wide area of transportation.
