The district of Hoshiarpur is one of the important northern districts of the northern state of Punjab. The district is bordered by the districts of Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala and the state of Himachal Pradesh. The district of Hoshiarpur is important to the state because of the cultural facets that the district renders to the state. The district of Hoshiarpur has its main centre for administration in the city of Hoshiarpur itself. The district has the two rivers of Beas and Sutlej flowing through the land in addition to the other streams that are mostly seasonal in nature.
