Malappuram

The District is a part of the southernmost state of the Republic of India i.e. Kerala. The district of Malappuram came in to existence when it was drafted into the Indian System in the year 1969. The district was formed with bits and pieces of land from Kozhikode district and Palakkad district. The district is considered by many historians to be the main centre where many medieval legends took birth. It is also considered to the main centre that gave birth to the Medicinal system of Ayurveda. The district is hugely respected for the cultural and political heritage that it has. The district of Malappuram is populated by approximately 41 lacs individuals, which is very much equal to the population of the country of New Zealand. The density of Population of the district is about 1158 inhabitants making it one of the densely populated districts of India. The main language of the people of the district is Malayalam.
