Students passing 10+2 level from schools are always confused in deciding what to join a college or a university. Conventionally it used to happen that university is defined as a body which handles all the colleges in a particular domain. The enrollment procedure, examination procedure, lectures are undertaken by a particular college. So the question may arise that, if such important works are carried out by a college, then why is a university required? Well the answer for that question lies below:
The need of University
First and foremost, after completing the graduation every student seeks a good job. One individual college doesn’t have a very reliable contact for giving students the benefit of campus placement. A university has the committee of several foremost personalities in industry and business. With the help of reliable contacts a university provides the student campus placements of every college affiliated with it.
Conversion of college into University
Nowadays some colleges are getting the license of being the university. Why does a college want to work as a university? A university has the right to design its own syllabus and carry exams, according to the will of its own. By designing the syllabus it means that a university can update a course at regular interval of time. By updating the syllabus a university can provide teaching of the latest technology to its students. A university can conduct an exam by ensuring that students have learned properly so that chance of scoring is increased which results in better placements.
The universities can be government and private just like a college. Students prefer government, universities because they are valued by companies. It depends on students according to their point of view where they get admitted universities are also recognized and respected by companies.
A College or a University?
Though in the field the university is a wider term than a college. The college may have limited scope and have to work under a university, but the university can begin a number of courses. Another important feature is, the university has different departments for specific subjects where the experts of the concerned segments share their knowledge and experience of the field which makes the learner get the field experience also without being in the field. Hence, the learning at university can be a better experience for the learner than learn at a college.
