Bera utsav is a popular annual festival celebrated in the land of Bengal which is already famous as the ‘State of Festivals’. It is said that 13 festivals are celebrated in one year in West Bengal. Bera utsav is basically held in the month of September in Lalbagh which is situated in the district of Murshidabad, West Bengal. The Bera Utsav is organized near the banks of the Bhagirathi River. Lalbagh is well-known for its historical palaces of great Nawabs who ruled Bengal. Tourists from all across the nation visit Murshidabad and often get a chance to witness this amazing festival. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness. Various types of traditional dance and music performances are held in the festival and people participate in them with a lot of enthusiasm.

Importance of Bera Utsav

The name of the city was derived from the name of Nawab Murshid Quli Khan. The Bera Utsav is widely celebrated across the whole area and the local people wait for the whole year for this festival. Bera Utsav is mainly celebrated on the last Thursday according to the Bengali month of Bhadra which is commonly falls on the September month. The main focus in the Bera Utsav is the fireworks which are performed in various ways. The plethora of fabulous fireworks enhances the beauty of the river Bhagirathi during the night of the Utsav.
