Airports in Punjab, India

There are four major airports in the Punjab state and they are as follows:

  1. Amritsar- ATQ code
  2. Bhatinda- BUP Code
  3. Ludhiana-LUH Code
  4. Pathankot – IXP Code

Amritsar: This is also called as Raja Sansi airport that is named after the founder of this city Guru Ram Das. This airport is the biggest airport in the Punjab state, and caters most of the international flights. In the last few years, this airport has been renovated many times to meet the needs of the present. This airport has 20 checkout points and can handle 1200 passengers at a time. There are two terminals in this airport, one is for the domestic flights and other one is for the international flights. This airport has a good connectivity with the rail and bus and have ample amount of other facilities related to hospitality.

Bhatinda: This airport is more or less now complete for the commercial services as earlier it was under the air force services. Now two terminals will cater all the needs of the domestic flights. And this airport will have all the facilities like luggage trolleys, lost and found and food courts. Already this airport has good connectivity within its premises.

Ludhiana: It is another big airport in the Punjab state that handles the domestic flights. Loaded with all modern facilities like escalators and baggage handling services. Another official name of this airport is Sahnewal Airport. Mostly light carriers fly towards this airport. Some of the flight operators fly till here are Air India, Jet Konnect, Jet Airways, JetLite. Flights till here are available from the various prime locations like Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi etc. Bus station is just 5km away from this airport. Food facilities and parking facilities are also available at this airport as per the need of the passengers.

Pathankot: Pathankot is basically an air force base but some flights of Air India also flew to this part. This airport has a capacity to handle the 300 number of passenger. Also parking limit is for the 80 vehicles only. It has good connectivity from other cities and fliers like jet light, paramount airways fly towards this airport. Just 500 m from the airport, Railway station and Bus stations are located. Airport Authority of India manages this airport.
