Airports in Odisha, India

Following are the airports in Odisha.

Biju Patnaik Airport (BBI): It is named after the famous freedom fighter and former chief minister of Odisha-Biju Patnaik. It lies in the main city of Bhubaneswar. There are two terminals here for domestic and international flights. Two major groups Lanco Infratech and Monnet are maintaining it. There are two runways here having length of 1380 m and 3200 m and lies at a height of 42m above the sea level. Since this is an international airport, it has all the facilities needed for the passengers. All the major domestic fliers have operations till here from major cities of India.

Jharsuguda Airport (VEJH): This is another domestic airport that is located in Odisha state. Around 5 kilometers in the east west direction of Jharsuguda. Currently it has a runway length of around 1882 m. In the year 2013, state government and Airport Authority of India, decided to jointly expand this airport. Air Odisha have some occasional flight from other cities of Odisha. After the expansion work is over, it will work as a fully fledged airport.

Rourkela Airport (RRK): Since Rourkela is an important destination for steel manufacturing, this is a private airport where mostly the officials of companies like TATA and SAIL comes. This has been under operations for quite long time. Flights from cities like Jameshedpur, Bhubaneswar etc are regular till here. In the future it will be made more fully fledged airport for commercial use also.
