Maharashtra is among the biggest states in India and hence it offers ample of tourist places to visit. Earlier in the 13th century Maharashtra and Gujarat were two same states. And they were major hub for the business activities related to the shipping etc. But when Britishers came into India they divided it and two new states were formed. Mumbai was made capital of this new state. Due to its long sea coastline, this state offers various beaches for tourism purposes and on the other hand the Western Ghats flora and fauna are impeccable. Maharashtra state is also a major hub for the business activities taking place every day, and in terms of education too, they are more promising. Alibagh

Alibagh is first on our list and comes under the district of Raigadh. It is most famous due to presence of quiet and clean beaches. A long seaside promises a nice silent environment to the visitors. Apart from the water bodies, it also has beautiful forts and temples.

Appu Ghar

Just like Disneyland in western countries, India too has its own. Appu Ghar is famous among the youth and children as it offers a variety of swings. It is located in Pune city. For older people, one lake is also there and people can spend nice time around it.

Baneshwar

Around 1 hour drive from Pune and after travelling 30 Km, you come across this beautiful place. On one hand the scenic beauty of this site mesmerizes the people and on the other hand the famous temple of Baneshwar keeps attracting crowds. Beautiful crafted gardens are also a thing to go for. For people who are enthusiasts of doing swimming will find this place interesting.

Bhushi Dam

Around 5 Km from the Lonavala, this picturesque place comes in front of your site. One thing that attracts people here is the presence of a waterfall. During the monsoon season, water flow increases to a considerable extent, and thereby increasing the fun.

Brahmagiri

As the name suggests, there is a famous mountain here and from this well-known river ‘Godavari’ protrudes out. The other star attractions of Brahmagiri are Kolambika Devi Temple, Kolambika Devi Temple and Gorakh Gumpha Ganga Sagar.

Chaul

In the 15 century, the Portuguese came to this place and made it their settlement. Due to this you will find lot number of buildings that dates back to the Portuguese period, still standing in this town. Around 30 Km from the south of capital city Mumbai, this place lays. Apart from the Portuguese buildings, temples and Buddhist monuments are some of the other star attractions of this site.

Deolali Camp

Around 16 Km from famous city Nashik, this camp comes. It is famous because of the presence of strong Indian Army military establishment. A very nice and quiet place to have a walk in the evening. Just at a walk in distance, a famous Lord Khandoba temple has been there and it is built on a hill. For shopping lovers, Deolali market is worth for spending money.

Esselworld

Similar to the Appu Ghar, Esselwolrd is also an interesting place for the people who love riding. But, Unlike Appu Ghar, Esselworld has more number of rides. Apart from rides, there is water pool also. It is located in the Mumbai city, near to the Gorai beach.

Film City

Few kilometer ride from Mumbai, leads to this interesting place. It is the hub of Indian cinema and television outdoor shooting. All types of facilities like theaters, recording studios etc. are available in the film city.

Snake Park

One of the famous tourist destinations in Pune city, Snake Park. It is full of different varieties of snakes and reptiles. For people who are having or doing expertise in the reptile world, this is a must to go places. A 9 feet long cobra is the star attraction of this park. Temples of Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Vishnu and Kartikeya, Goddess Parvati are the star attraction of this park.

Khadakwasla and Panshet Dam

Both the locations are famous for the dam that has been constructed here and they are very huge in size. Khadakwasla is also famous because the Indian army training academy is also situated near this place. To reach here, you have to do half hour drive from the Mumbai city. The picturesque views of Sinhagad and Peacock Bay are just irresistible. Panshet is famous for water related sports like speed boat etc.

Koyna Dam

It comes under the list of biggest hydroelectric power plant. The whole flora round this place is really enchanting and gives very mind relaxing views. Best time to visit this site is in the season of monsoon. There are several water related sports like speed boat etc. are also being organized.

Vadhu and Tulapur

Both these places have great historical importance. In Vadhu, Sambhaji who was the son of great warriors and ruler Shivaji has its grave built here. He was killed in the Tulapur area and Tulapur is also famous for the Lord Shiva temple. Originally Tulapur was used to be called as ‘Nagargaon’.

Tips for Journey

Maharashtra being having a large water side on one front, gives a fantastic experience to its visitors. Keep things ready with yourself that are essential for keeping you safe when going in water like sun burn etc. During the month of summers, humidity is very high and leads to lots of sweating. So, keep ample amount of water (Having little salt content in it is always advisable) with you. Keep shades for your eyes ready in order to protect your eyes from the scorching heat. In terms of transportation, Maharashtra is a good place and you will not face any problem in this area. Since language spoken here is a little bit different from the rest of India, keep a command over the same to avoid any misunderstanding taking place during the whole journey. Although people are soft spoken, but for the outsiders it will look like that they are arrogant to them, but nothing like being there.
