Tulip Festival

The Tulip Garden Festival is held every year in April in the Srinagar, Kashmir. Tulip Garden of Kashmir also known as Indira Gandhi Memorial Garden(Siraj Bagh) is Asia`s biggest Tulip garden. This beautiful garden is in the foothills of Zabarwan range with an overview of Dal Lake. The festival begins in late March or early April every year and runs for a couple of weeks before the flowers die.

Date-First two weeks of April each year.

The tulip festival is annually held in April when the tulips are in full bloom. The tulips bloom by April lending an ethereal atmosphere to the valley. The sprawling garden is home to number of different varieties of tulips and attracts several tourists during this time of the year. The tulips that bloom in different colours like red, yellow, variegated, pink, white, orange, light blue  and magenta is  a feast to the eyes. The garden is spread over 5 hectare boasts of 60 varieties of multi-coloured tulip. The window of opportunity for viewing the tulips is limited because the flowers die after only 15 to 20 days, depending on the temperature. Around 2 million tulip bulbs bloom here and the whole view of the garden during this time is heavenly and simply mesmerising.

In addition to all the brightly coloured tulips that cover the garden the festival also features daily cultural programs, Kashmiri folk songs, sale of local handicrafts etc. One can also enjoy the different Kashmiri cuisine that is prepared locally and is a favourite among the tourists.
