AIPMT 2016 Eligibility Criteria

The AIPMT Eligibility Criteria for students is as follows:

  • The applicant should have reached the age of 17 before taking admission for a BDS or MBBS course or will reach the age 17 till 31st December of the first year of joining.
  • AIPMT exams are divided into two categories: pre dental and pre medical. Upper age limit for all AIPMT Pre Medical and Pre Dental Examinations is 25 years of age. This age limit is increased to 5 years more for candidates who belong to ST, SC and OBC category.
  • The academic qualification of the candidate should be 10+2. The applicant must have studied the subject Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the last two years of his or her academic year in order to apply for the AIPMT entrance exam.
  • The applicant should have passed all subjects in the last two years of his academic year. General category applicants must secure at least 50% marks in PCB and Bio technology while the SC, ST and OBC needs minimum 45% marks. The General Physically Handicapped category also needs minimum 45% marks in science subjects.
  • An applicant can attempt only three times to qualify the AIPMT entrance exam.
  • Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir students are not eligible for AIPMT entrance exams. This is because both the states have opted out of AIPMT ever since it was founded.
