Khajuraho Dance Festival

Khajuraho Dance Festival is an annual cultural event held at one of the most famous travel destinations of India, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh. The event which is organized by the Kala Parishad under the Madhya Pradesh government is an annual treat for the connoisseurs of Indian Classical Dances. The aim of the festival is to promote the rich and vibrant culture and heritage of India. the festival also celebrates the glory of the most colourful and brilliant classical dance forms of India immortalised in the stone sculptures of Khajuraho. The enchanting 1000 year-old temples of Khajuraho serve as the spectacular backdrop for this cultural extravaganza that celebrates the various classical Indian dance forms.

An open-air auditorium in front of the Chitragupta Temple dedicated to the Sun God and the Vishwanatha Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva serves which are situated in the Western Group of temples serves as the venue for the week long festival held every year in the month of February.

Khajuraho Dance Festival in 2014 was held from 21st February till 26th of February.

Khajuraho Dance Festival in 2015 is from 20st February till 26th of February.

How to Reach Khajuraho

Khajuraho is a temple city located in the Bundelkhand region of Chhatarpur District in Madhya Pradesh. Khajuraho airport is located about 5 kilometres from the town and is well connected to many cities in India like Delhi, Agra, Mumbai, Varanasi, Bhopal, Indore, and Allahabad. There is no direct rail route to reach Khajuraho. Nearest railway station to Khajuraho is Mahoba which is located at 63 km from Khajuraho. Another nearest railhead is at Harpalpur which is 94km away. Jhansi is a convenient railhead (172 km) for travellers coming from Delhi or Chennai and Satna (117 km) is convenient for those coming from Mumbai, Calcutta or Varanasi. Khajuraho is well connected by good network of roads to other places like Mahoba, Harpalpur, Satna, Jhansi, Gwalior, Agra, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore, and Chhatarpur.
