GATE 2016 Important Dates

If you are looking to sit for the GATE 2016 then there are some important dates that you should keep in mind while preparing for it. The dates are listed below.

  • 1st September is the day when the Online application web portal for GATE 2016 goes online
  • 1st October is the last day when a candidate can apply for GATE 2016 
  • 21st November is the last day when the choice of city of examination can be filled by the candidate
  • 17th December is the date when the admit cards are released on the regional websites for the students to download.
  • 30th January 2016 is the day when the first phase of exam will take place
  • 31st January 2016 is the day when the second phase of exam will take place
  • 6th February 2016 is the day when the third phase of exam will take place
  • 7th February 2016 is the day when the fourth phase will take place
  • 19th March 2016 the results for the GATE 2015 will be declared online.

GATE Eligibility Criteria

If you are seeking a chance to appear for the GATE 2016 then you must be eligible to sit for the exam. The eligibility for the course is simple as you should have completed your graduation course in engineering or science by 2016. The list of all the qualifying degree is given below. A student with B.E\ B. Tech\ B.Arch\ B.Pharm\ B.Sc.\ MSc\ MS\ MCA or equivalent courses is eligible for appearing in the test. If you have already completed the degree then a completion certificate or a provisional certificate will be required to be submitted. If you are in the final year and will be completing the course in the year 2016 then a letter from the principal will be required. This letter shall be uploaded at the time of online application of the GATE form.

In case you are a student who have had a backlog in the final semester then a letter from the principal or your final semester mark sheet will be required to be uploaded during GATE application.

Ways of Preparation for GATE 2016

If you are seeking to appear for the GATE then you must make sure that you are well prepared for the test. Here are some points that will help you in preparing for the GATE 2016.

Admit cards of GATE

The Admit card this year will be available online for download. The admit cards won’t be mailed to individual candidates. It is this soft copy that will be available in terms of admit card. Candidates must download the card and take a print out of it. it is this print out that will be their admit card. This card will be valid only with a valid photo ID card. Any government recognised ID card is a must if you are looking to enter in the GATE examination hall. Without an ID card the GATE authorities have the right to stop you from entering the hall. The admit cards will be available for download in the zonal websites of GATE.

There are in total 22 different papers for the GATE this year. Every paper has the aptitude questions common among them apart from it the detailed syllabus of each paper can be found in the website. The topics that are to be covered for the paper are given.
