Are you looking forward to appear for the upcoming 2020 CTET examination that’s scheduled for 5th July this year? You can either apply for Primary teaching level or Upper Primary teaching level or both, based on your academic qualification and professional aspiration. In case you are eligible to sit for the exam, you must check out the CTET syllabus. In a broad sense, the CTET exam covers a number of major topics including - Child Development & pedagogy, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science as well as Language I & II and Environmental Studies.

However, there are some basic differences in the CTET 2020 syllabus between Paper 1 and Paper 2 syllabus. Here is a detailed brief on the syllabus for both CTET exam Paper 1 and 2.

CTET Syllabus for Paper 1 candidates

Child development & Pedagogy

It covers educational psychology for learning and teaching students from class 1-5 (aged in between 6 and 11 years). The subject covers understanding of needs and characteristics of varied learners, interaction with them and conception of best attributes of ideal facilitator for learning.

Language I

It will stress of proficiencies relevant to instruction medium.

Language II

It will cover different elements related to language as well as comprehension and communication abilities. Candidates will have the option to choose his/her preferred choice for Language I & II.

Mathematics and EVS

It will cover concepts related to environmental science and mathematics. Applicants will have to brush up their pedagogical conception of these subjects and their problem-solving abilities.

There will be 30 questions carrying 30 marks each on Language I, Language II, Child Development and Pedagogy, Environmental Science and Mathematics.

CTET Syllabus for Paper 2 candidates

Child development & Pedagogy

It  encompasses educational psychology for learning and teaching students from class 6-8  (aged in between 11 and 14 years). The subject stresses on understanding of needs and characteristics of varied learners, interaction with them and conception of best attributes of ideal facilitator for learning. There will be 30 questions from this section.

Language I

It will stress of proficiencies relevant to instruction medium.

Language II

It will cover different elements related to language as well as comprehension and communication abilities. As with Paper 1, in Paper 2 too candidates will have the option to choose his/her preferred choice for Language I & II. There will be 30 questions from Language I & II.

Mathematics

It will cover mensuration, Algebra, Geometry, Pedagogical issue, data handling and of course math number system.

Science

It will cover science of materials, food, living world, natural resources and so on.

There will be 60 questions from Mathematics and Science sections.

Social science It will cover geography, history, politics, society and so on. There will be 60 questions from this section.
