Eligibility criteria for Birla institute of technology and Science Admission test (BITSAT)

An Eligibility criterion forBITSATis little different from other entrances examination and unique one also.

  • First of all you should be doing 12th class form a recognized board with physics, chemistry and Math’s as your core subjects. Passed put students can also apply for this examination. Students who are giving the 12th class from open need to check the details available at the site for further clarification. But passed out students can only apply for just one year after 12th class passing. So, it means if it’s more than one year that you have passed the 12th boards then you’re are not eligible for this exam. So you got only 2 chances for appearing, one in 12th class and one after that.
  • Secondly you should have overall 75% marks in physics, chemistry and math’s. Failing this, you are not eligible for this exam. Also you should have at least 60% marks in single subjects (Physics, Chemistry and math’s). So those students, who are appearing for this exam when they are 12th class, should keep in mind that if they fail to score 75% aggregate in three subjects stated above and also 60% aggregate in the each subject, they will fail to appear for this exam.
  • Students with biology as a core subject in 12th class board exams are also Eligible for this exam but they will be eligible for the pharmacy courses like Pharmacy ( B.pharma) etc.

Exam pattern of Birla institute of technology and Science Admission test (BITSAT)

BITSATis conducted online, so it is better your take some mock test, before actually taking this examination. There are various coaching institutes available for this. But at the end of the day, choice depends on the students whether they want to take coaching or not. Our advice would be that, at least you should take the question paper series offered various institutes as it will train your for the final exam. Since this is an online exam and you would have never appeared for such type exam, a pre preparation about this exam will prove to be beneficial for you.

Sections in the exam paper:

  1. English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning – 25 questions
  2. Chemistry – 40 questions
  3. Physics- 40 questions
  4. Mathematics- 45 questions

Number of question: 150 + 12 questions-Extra (Discussed below)

Time duration: 180 minutes

Marking scheme: 3 mark for right answer and -1 will be deducted for wrong answer.

Syllabus: As per the guidelines given in the prospectus or site.

The questions which are being asked in BITSAT exam are objective type questions. You are given around 180 minutes for completing all the questions. There are 150 questions given in the exam and they are divided four sections. There is a negative marking in this exam and better you take care of this thing, if you are not sure about a question. One thing which is very unique about this exam which is not available in any other exam is system of extra questions. I have written extra 12 question above. Actually you have to attempt 150 questions only. But if you have completed the entire 150 question under 180 minutes, then in the spare time you can attempt the additional 12 question. This will give meritorious more chance to score in this exam. This is system is unique to this entrance examination. Have a look at the score card of the past BITSAT exam and you will get to know about the cutoff of marks last year.

Note: If you mark two answers of same question, then you will not get marks for that question and that will be treated as a wrong question.

Way of marking the question and answer is very good in this exam and you can skip any question you want. You can also attend any section you want. One thing which is totally unique about this exam is that, the board toppers are given direct admission to this college. Yes is little weird to hear but BITS offers direct admission to the 12th class board toppers. So, it is better you top boards because then there will be requirement of giving the exam at all.
