Civil Services Aptitude test, also known as CSAT is an entrance examination that is conducted every year by the Union Public Commission services (UPSC). This entrance examination is mainly conducted to recruit the candidates for different civil services like IRS, IPS, IAS or IFS. All the candidates who pass the CSAT entrance examination will have to appear in the CSE main examination. All the eligible and interested candidates can fill in the application form and appear in the CSAT 2014 examination. Below listed are a few important dates for CSAT 2014.

  • Last date of notification is 17th May, 2014.
  • Last date for receiving the applicant’s receipts is 16th June, 2014.
  • The CSAT entrance examination, 2014 will be conducted on 24th August, 2014.

The CSAT examination is conducted in three different stages. Firstly, the CSAT entrance exam is conducted. All the candidates who pass the Civil services Aptitude test are then allowed to appear for the CSE main examination. Finally, the students who get selected in the main examination are allowed to appear before the interview board.

Now, UPSC has decided that in the CSAT entrance examination, there will be 2 different papers and each paper will be of 200 marks each. All the candidates will be provided with a time period of 2 hours for completing each paper. The question paper will include multiple choices as well as objective type questions. The main examination of CSE is conducted for the candidates who succeed to pass the preliminary examination. The main examination paper consists of seven papers. English paper will carry 300 marks whereas paper on Indian language will carry 250 marks. The general studies paper will be of 250 marks and two papers of any two optional subjects that are being chosen by the candidate, each of 250 marks. At last, a personality test will be conducted and it will be of 275 marks.
