Namakkal

The district of Namakkal is one of the most important administrative districts of the state of Tamil Nadu. The district of Namakkal is located in the central part of the state of Tamil Nadu. The district has the city of Namakkal itself as the main administrative city of the district. The district of Namakkal came into being in the year 1996 when land was scrapped of from the district of Salem. The district is bordered by the districts of Salem, Karur, Perambalur, Erode and Tiruchirapalli. The district was ruled by the dynasties of Cheras, Cholas, Pandayas and Hoysalas during the medieval period. The district of Namakkal covers a land area of approximately 3401 sq km with a population of approximately around 17.2 lacs individuals. The district has a population density of approximately around 506 people per sq km. The district also has quite a few tourist attractions for the locals as well as the people of India.
