Karnataka Samskrit University


Karnataka Samskrit University was started by an effort of the Karnataka Government in 2010. It was started with the aim to encourage and develop higher studies and researches in the Sanskrit language, Vedic studies, Shastras and literature. It comprises four wings i.e, Teaching, Research, Publication and Administrative wings. The main campus is built over 100 acres of land and placed in Ramanagar District. The other two campuses are situated at Bangalore and Mysore city. Currently, there are 3 constituent institutes, and 14 affiliated colleges come under the university. Karnataka Samskrit University is approved and recognized by the University Grant Commission. It provides various courses at UG, PG, and Doctoral levels in the field of Languages, Shastra, and Vedanta.

Karnataka Samskrit University Courses

The most popular courses of the university are mentioned below:

  • Bachelor of Arts for 3 years in Advaita Vedanta, and Jaina Siddhanta
  • Master of Arts for 2 years in Vyakarana, Vidvaduttamaa, and Alankara
  • The other courses are Ph.D in Vidyavaridhi, Diploma in Sanskrit, Certificate Courses in Sanskrit, Dvaita, and Vedanta

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates seeking admission in UG, PG, and Doctoral courses must have completed passed Sahitya with sanskrit language, graduation, and master’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Admission to BA and MA is based on the qualifying marks in the entrance exam conducted by the university
  • Admission to Ph.D is allowed on the basis of obtained marks in the Sanskrit Written Test conducted by the university
  • Admission to Diploma and Certificate courses is based on merit list in the qualifying exam 

Scholarship

  • It offers scholarships to students belonging to the ST/SC/minority categories through the Post-Matric Scholarship Scholarship program. 
  • Students belonging to the other backward classes are eligible for a 50% concession in the tuition fees.

Other Facilities

  • There are separate hostels for male and female candidates with all the necessary facilities.
  • The library consists of a huge collection of books including Gita, Vedas, Shastra, and Grahanthas.
  • It also provides a computer center, health care center, sports venues, and many more.
