Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee was the seventh IIT set up by the Government of India in Uttarakhand. Initially, it was started as the Roorkee College in1847 and then renamed Thomason College of Civil Engineering in 1854. The institute got the status of the “Institution of National Importance” from the Indian Government on 21st September 2001. The nearest airport is Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport which is 68.3 km away from the institute campus. The institute provides various UG, PG, and Doctoral courses in the field of Engineering, Science, and Technology. IIT Roorkee was ranked 6 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2019.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates seeking admission in the UG programs must have a minimum of 75% marks in the Higher Secondary from a recognized board
• Admission in B.Tech is decided by the JEE Advanced score
• Admission in M.Tech is decided by the GATE score
• Admission in M.Sc is given on the basis of IIT-JEE score
• Admission in Ph.D. is permitted on the basis of UGC NET/CSIR NET score followed by the Personal Interview
