Karnataka State Open University (also known as KSOU) is a state government university that came into existence in 1996 in Mysuru, Karnataka. The University is approved & recognized by the University Grant Commission and Distance Education Council. It is one of the leading universities in the state that provides various courses at UG, and PG levels in the field of Management, Science, Language, Arts, Commerce, etc. The main adage of the KSOU is “HIGHER EDUCATION FOR EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE”. 

KSOU Courses

The courses are given below:

• Full-Time BA, B.Com, BLIS for 3 years
• M.Sc in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, Information Science, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Microbiology, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Psychology
• MA in English, Sanskrit, Kannada, Urdu, History, Political Science, Journalism & Mass Communication, Sociology, Public Administration, Ancient History & Archaeology
• Ph.D. in English, Hindi, History, Education, Kannada, Management Studies, Sociology, Telugu, Sanskrit

Eligibility Criteria

• The admission process is organized two times a year i.e January and June. 
• Candidates seeking admission in UG courses must have completed higher secondary with a minimum of 50% aggregate from a recognized board.
• Candidates seeking admission in PG and Doctoral courses must have completed graduation and post-graduation degree from a recognized university
• Admission to all the courses is granted on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and there is no entrance examination for admission.

Scholarship

The university runs the post-matric scholarship program for students belonging to the ST/SC category whose family annual income is less than 2.5 Lakh. Students need to submit the Caste and Income certificate to get the benefit of the scholarship.

• The university provides a Library with a huge collection of books, magazines, journals, newspapers, e-books, and other study materials.
