Jai Prakash University is one of the most prestigious universities in Bihar that was set up by the Government of India in 1990 in Chhapra, Bihar. The university provides all the facilities required for higher studies for the people of the Saran Commissionary. It consists of 11 affiliated colleges, 21 constituents institute, and 10 professional colleges. JPU offers various courses at UG and PG levels in the field of Computer, Science, Humanities, and Social Science. The university campus of 206 acres of land is situated in Chhapra.

The courses are given below:

• Full-Time B.Sc for 3 years in Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Industrial Microbiology subjects
• Full-Time BA in Humanities, Functional Hindi, Industrial Fish & Fisheries specializations
• Master of Arts in Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Urdu, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, History, Psychology specializations
• Master of Science in Geography, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics subjects
• The other courses include B.Com, LLB, BBA, M.Com

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates seeking admission in UG and PG programs must have completed Higher Secondary and Graduation from a recognized university.
• Candidates need to appear in the entrance exam conducted by the university and final selection is done on the basis of qualifying marks in the exam.

Reservation

The university reserved 16% seats for ST, 1% seats for ST, 18% seats for most backward class, 12% seats for other backward class, 3% seats for women from backward class, 3% seats for PWDs, 1% seats for candidates of University officers.

• The university has a library with a huge collection of books, journals, e-books, magazines, newspapers, free internet connectivity, etc.
