Established in 1997, Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University was the first Sanskrit University in the State of Maharastra and the central region of India. This university was the dream of then PM, Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao and it succeeded by the attempts of Late Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao, Sudhakarrao Naik, and Shrikant Jichkar. It has five faculties i.e, Faculty of Vedic Studies, Faculty of Sanskrit & Other Languages, Faculty of Indian Religion, Philosophy, & Culture, Faculty of Ancient Indian Science & Humanities, and Faculty of Education & Other Branches of Learning. The university has numerous courses at UG, PG, Diploma, and Research Based and all are authorized by the University Grant Commission

Eligibility Criteria
- Admission to the various courses of the KKSU can be applied online through the online portal of the university. Candidates need to fill up all the required information in the application form and then submit it.
- Admission to the UG and PG courses is allowed on the basis of secured marks in the previous qualifying examination.
- Admission to Ph.D. and M.Phil is decided by the Entrance Examination conducted by the Examination Controller of the university followed by the personal interview.

The library consists of a huge collection of books, journals, theses, manuscripts associated with Veda-Vedanta, Vyakaran, Ancients Indian Science, Fine Arts, Indian Philosophy, Medicine, Buddhism, Jainism, Education & Indologyas and many more.
