Assam Agricultural University is situated in Jorhat, Assam and it was inaugurated in 1969 with the aim to enhance human resources and research in the farming sector. The university facilitates Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programs for the students. Students can pursue their career by applying for any course available in various streams like Agriculture, Horticulture & Sericulture, Veterinary science. The university is authorized by the University Grants Commission. Candidates can apply online for admission in UG, PG, and Doctoral courses.

All courses provided by the university are explained below

B.SC(Hons) in Agriculture, Computer Science, Food Nutrition & Dietetics, Horticulture, Fisheries Science, Sericulture for 4 years.

B.V.Sc & A.H. in Veterinary Sciences for 5 and a half years.

M.Sc in Agriculture, Food Technology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Home Science for 2 years.

MBA in Agricultural Business for 2 years.

Ph.D. in Agricultural, Veterinary Science, Home Science, Fisheries Science. The Ph.D. course takes 3 years to complete.

M.V.Sc in Veterinary Science for 2 years.

M.F.Sc in Fisheries Science.

Eligibility Criteria

The admission in the B.Sc(Hons) and B.V.Sc & A.H. is decided by valid marks in the entrance exam (VET) and a minimum of 50% marks with science subjects in 10+2.  The admission on all other remaining courses is decided on the basis of merit. 

Placement

There is a placement and training department to optimize student’s various skills like leadership, personality development, communication skills, and prepare them for campus placement in both public and private sector companies.

Other Facilities

The hostel facility provided by the university for both girls and boys. All the necessary facilities are provided in the hostel room.

The university also runs scholarship schemes like Rajiv Gandhi National Scholarship, INSPIRE fellowship, Bayer fellowship, DBT fellowship, State Merit Scholarship for the deserving candidates who are not financially stable or have any other problem.
