Lalit Narayan Mithila University was the dream of the people of Mithila and an attempt of great academicians whose names are Dr. Amarnath Jha, Dr. R. C. Mazumdar, Dr. A. S. Altekar, Dr. Sunil Kumar Chatterjee who requested for the establishment of the university in the State Legislature and Parliament on 27th January 1947. In 1972, the UGC recognized university was established at Darbhanga in Bihar and its campus is spread over an area of 201 acres of land. The university consists of 21 PG departments, 43 Constituents colleges, 24 Affiliated colleges, 3 Dental colleges, 23 b.Ed colleges, 2 affiliated Law colleges, 7 Self-Financing institutions. It provides various courses through faculties of Science, Humanities, Law, Social Science, Education, Commerce, Fine Arts, and Dentistry.

Eligibility Criteria

• Admission in Ph.D required a master’s degree in the relevant subject and need to clear an entrance exam conducted by the university followed by the personal interview
• Admission to B.Tech is granted on the basis of valid marks in the Common Entrance Test
• Admission to MBBS is recruited through the NEET entrance exam and NEET PG score is considered for MD/MS
• CAT/MAT valid marks are considered for admission to MBA
• Admission to all other courses are based on merit
