Currently only one airport is present in Meghalaya.
Shillong Airport (SHL): It is sometime also called as Omroi airport, because of its location in this area. This airstrip is located around 30 Km away from the Shillong. Shilling Airport was constructed during the times of 1960’s, but got a major expansion during 2009. A new terminal building with all sorts of facilities was taken care. Now this airstrip spreads in an area of around 224 acres. Since this is the only one of its kind in the state, it is the only source of transportation. Only Air India regional has its operations till here. Some regular flights are available from Kolkata and Guwahati. Currently it situated at height of 884 m above sea level and length of runway is 1829 m.
