WBJEE is the entrance test for the undergraduate science students of West Bengal looking to apply for engineering or medical courses in the Government and private institutions in West Bengal. It is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination board every year. The upcoming WBJEE 2016 is scheduled for May 17. Are you about to apply for WBJEE exam? WBJEE eligibility

The WBJEE 2016 eligibility criteria are:

  • The interested candidate has to be a citizen of West Bengal.
  • The applicant should be of minimum 17 years of age before or on December 31, 2016. Applicants interested in marine engineering must not be over 25 years on July 31, 2016.
  • The candidate must be from science stream.
  • The candidate must pass secure 45% in 10+2 examination (40% for candidates from reserved category).
  • If interested for admission in Jadavpur University, the eligibility cutoff is 60% for general candidates & 55% for candidates from reserved category.

WBJEE application

You have to fill the WBJEE 2016 application form from the official website of WBJEE. No other mode of application is eligible. The application form is already out from January 5, 2016 and the last date of submitting online application is February 29, 2016. You can apply either for engineering or medical as well as for both engineering & medical.

WBJEE application fee

The WBJEE 2016 application fee is Rs. 500 whether you apply for engineering or medical. If you are planning to apply for both, the application fee is Rs. 600.  The applicant can pay either through Debit/Credit card or through Allahabad Bank Challan.

WBJEE syllabus & exam

The WBJEE 2016 syllabus would comprise of all that you have read in your Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics in class XI & XII.

The WBJEE 2016 exam is dated for May 17. The exam would start from 9 a.m. and would run till 5:30 p.m. It would be divided into 3 phases. In the first half, you will have a 150 marks exam on biological science which is scheduled from 9-11:30 a.m. The second half is a 100 marks exam on Physics & Chemistry, scheduled from 12:45 - 2:45 p.m. The third half would be another 100 marks exam on Mathematics from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

WBJEE admit card

The WBJEE 2016 admit card is scheduled to be out on April 4, 2016. You have to download the admit card from the official website of WBJEEM. The admit card is an important document and you have to carry it in the examination hall and counseling center.

WBJEE result, merit list and counseling

The WBJEE 2016 result would be out on June 5. You have to download your merit list. Only those students who have passed the exam with cutoff will have their names enlisted on the merit list. The WBJEE 2016 cut off for merit list is not decided yet. Tentatively, it would be 50 % for general candidates, 40 % for SC, ST & OBC candidates as well as 45% for PwD candidates.

Students who would have their name on merit list would be asked for WBJEE 2016 counseling for admission. The counseling is conducted through 4 rounds-
