After enthralling us with his heartwarming stories in “Piku” and “October”, Shoojit Sircar has come up with something really different from his usual genre this year. Much to the surprise of his fans, the director’s upcoming movie is a comedy-drama which promises to tickle your funny bones at all the right points. Titled “Gulabo Sitabo”, the film stars none other than Amitabh Bachchan as well as Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead roles. The movie will be officially released on April 17, 2020.

Based in Lucknow, the story of the film revolves around Gulabo and Sitabo, two puppet characters popular by their name all across the UP. The movie is packed with local humor as well as amazing songs that will keep the audience engaged. “Gulabo Sitabo” speaks of the daily struggles of common man yet without getting too serious. Rather the film takes a light-hearted turn and presents the whole soul-stirring tale wrapped up in humour.

Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Prakash NathDwivedi (Munish) a.k.a. Gulabo in the movie. This is the second time Big B has worked with Sircar after “Piku”. Ayushmann plays the role of Sunil Kumar Shukla or Danish a.k.a. Sitabo. For Khurrana, this is the first time he has worked with Sircar. Not only that, “Gulabo Sitabo” is also the first film where we will see Aysushmaan Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan in one frame. Needless to mention, Khurrana is extremely excited about the project.

“Gulabo Sitabo” is produced by Sheel Kumar and Ronnie Lahiri. The movie is directed by Shoojit Sircar and written by Juhi Chaturvedi. The film was about to get released on April 24, 2020 but later the release was pre-poned to February 28, 2020. But later, the release date was officially decided to be held on April 17, 2020. Avik Mukhopadhyay has handled the cinematography of the film and Shekhar was entrusted with the editing task.
