CTET serves the acronym for Central Teaching Eligibility Test. Conducted by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), it’s an esteemed national-level exam carried to select eligible candidates for the designations of Upper Primary and Primary level teachers in schools run by the Central Government. The examination is conducted two times in a year- first in July and the other in December.

Like every year, the CBSE will conduct CTET exam this year as well. The first session of CTET 2020 is scheduled for 5th July, 2020. The examination will be carried in all major cities across India.

CTET 2020 Examination

The 2020 CTET exam, like every year, is divided into Paper 1 & Paper 2. Those aspiring candidates who are willing to appear for Primary level (classes 1 to 5) teaching position will register for Paper 1. Those aspiring to appear for Upper Primary (classes 6 to 8) teaching level will register for Paper 2. However, a candidate is allowed to appear to for both papers as well, provided s/he meets respective eligibility criteria.

How CTET exam will be conducted?

The CTET 2020 examination will be a completely offline test. Each test will have 150 MCQs and students will have to mark answer on OMR sheets. The exam duration is 150 minutes for each paper. Every correct answer would be awarded with 1 mark. Negative marking is not applicable for wrong answers.

The CTET 2020 qualifying marks is 60 percent for the General candidates and 55 percent for the Reserved category candidates. Candidates who will be able to score more than the stated percentage of marks would be awarded with Eligibility Certificate.

CTET 2020 Eligibility

The CTET 2020 Eligibility criteria for candidates appearing for Paper 1 are:

  • Candidate must pass senior secondary exam (or equivalent) with minimum 50 percent marks
  • S/he should pass (or be appearing) in the last year of two-year Elementary Education Diploma.

The CTET Eligibility criteria for candidates appearing for Paper 2 are:

  • Candidate should hold graduate degree certificate in his/her relevant discipline
  • S/he should pass (or be appearing) in the last year of two-year Elementary Education Diploma.

CTET 2020 syllabus

CTET 2020 syllabus covers a number of subjects. These include Child Development & pedagogy, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science as well as Language I & II. Candidates appearing for Paper 1 will also have to cover Environmental Studies.

How to apply for CTET 2020

You must be looking forward to know by now how to apply for CTET examination come July. Well, the CTET application process is entirely conducted online. Here is a guide on CTET 2020 application.

  • Go to the official website of ctet.nic.in
  • Look for the section that says “Apply for CTET 2020”. Click on it to find your CTET 2020 application form
  • Type in required personal details on online form. All the details you will put should match with your details mentioned in your class X certificate
  • Choose exam centers- you will be able to select 4 centers
  • Fill in your communication, academic as well as other required details
  • Upload your photograph as per required instructions in the jpeg format
  • Upload your signature in the jpeg format
  • Pay the required fee. You can pay online (via net banking/credit card/debit card). You can also pay the fees offline via downloading e-challan which you would have to deposit in Syndicate Bank or Canara Bank
  • You will get preview of confirmation page. Get a print out of the page

The CTET 2020 application process has already started and the form is now available from January 24, 2020. The last date to fill and submit the form is February 24, 2020.

CTET 2020 application fee

The CTET 2020 application fee for General/OBC  is 1000 INR if you are applying for one paper. If you are applying for both the papers, then the fee is 1200 INR. For those who belong to SC/ST/PwD category, the application fee is 500 INR for one paper and 600 INR if the candidate wants to appear for both papers. 

CTET 2020 Important dates

Every CTET 2020 aspirant should have a clear knowledge on the CTET important dates for the upcoming July examination. Here is a brief on the most vital dates to keep in mind to sit for the examination.

  • January 24 to February 25, 2020- Online registration window for CTET 2020 July examination.
  • February 27, 2020 (up till 3:30 p.m.)- Last date to submit application fee.
  • March 17- 24, 2020- Window for correction of CTET 2020 application form.
  • June 20, 2020- CTET 2020 admit card for July examination will be released on CTET official website.
  • July 5, 2020- date for CTET examination.
  • July 23, 2020- CTET 2020 answer keys will be released.
  • July 27, 2020- CTET 2020 result
  • August 2020- CTET 2020 certificates for qualified candidates will be dispatched.

CTET 2020 Admit card

The CTET website is scheduled to release the CTET 2020 admit card on June 20, 2020. Candidates will have to download the admit card from ctet.nic.in and get a print out of the card.

CTET 2020 exam centers

The CTET exam centers  for the coming July exam is spread across 2935 centers located all across 112 Indian cities. The examination for Paper 1 candidates will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The examination for Paper 2 will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

CTET 2020 Result

The CTET 2020 result for July examination will be released on July 27, 2020. The result will be uploaded on the official site of CTET. Candidates can check and their results from ctet.nic.in easily through his/her roll number. You will be able to download your CTET Scorecard as well as Eligibility Certificate from DigiLocker website (https://digilocker.gov.in).
