Janasthan Shakti Peeth

Janasthan Shakti Peeth is among the 51 Shakti Peeth of Ma Sati. It is said that, the Chin of Maa Sati fell here, when lord Vishnu in order to relieve lord Shiva from grief of losing his wife Sati, used his ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ to incise Maa Sati Body. Then, at the place of fall of chin, this temple was constructed. Janasthan Shakti Peeth is located near Nashik, Maharashtra. If precisely talking about the location then, near to Nasik, a place called as Panchwati is there. Here the idol of Maa Sati is called as ‘Bhramari’ and the lord Shiva is worshipped as ‘Sarvasiddhish’. Meaning of Bhramari is goddesses of throne.

History of Janasthan Shakti Peeth

There is no exact information about who and when this temple was built. But, it is said and also written in Puranas and Vedas that the chin of Maa Sati fell. So, in order to embark importance to this place and pray the Maa Sati, this temple was constructed. Information about the origin can be known best from the people who are living nearby to this temple. On other hand, Panchwati was the home for Lord Ram in his 14 years exile period.

Festivals in Janasthan temple

Navaratri that falls two times in a year- one in the month of March or April and other in the September or October month depending on the Hindu calendar, is the major festival here. One major festival that is celebrated is the ‘MAHA KUMBH MELA’, and comes after every 12 years. The whole ambience of temple during this festival is mesmerizing to see and people all over the country come here to celebrate this auspicious occasion. Navaratri are celebrated with full energy, faith, dedication and devotion. Navaratri are celebrated for over 9 days, with some people not eating any type of food that is derived from the soil for these nine days. Special ceremonies and rituals are carried during these days. Another festival that is celebrated with great enthusiasm is the ‘Shivaratri’.
